So I had a busy saturday!
I was out with my friends Jen + Daniela! We had Shake Shack (best. fries. ever) and bubble tea (which I didn’t like.. :o) and I had to make a trip to Foyles :))))))
The Foyles in Charing Cross Road is a frickin’ palace btw.
As part of my A Levels, I’m doing an Extended Project Qualification where you can do a project based on anything you want. For mine, I’m doing a 5000 word report on feminism!
So I bought a hard copy of Everyday Sexism – Laura Bates to stick sticky notes in! I’ve just finished this book on my kindle and it was absolutely amazing. There should be a review up sooooooon.
How to Be a Woman – Caitlin Moran is a book I’ve been highly recommended by two of my friends. It’s a book that’s been described as “part rant, part memoir” and that has me excited!
I also bought Afterworlds – Scott Westerfeld. I have Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, which I haven’t read yet, but this book sounds AWESOME. Just look at the premise:
“Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds. Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she’s made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings… Told in alternating chapters is Darcy’s novel, a suspenseful thriller about Lizzie, a teen who slips into the ‘Afterworld’ to survive a terrorist attack. But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved – and terrifying – stories need to be reconciled. And when a new threat resurfaces, Lizzie learns her special gifts may not be enough to protect those she loves and cares about most”
ALTERNATING CHAPTERS.
And the last book I got was Emil and the Detectives – Erich Kästner. I only picked it up because it was 50% off in Foyles..
From what I can tell from the blurb, there’s this boy called Emil, there’s a mysterious man across from him on the train, Emil falls asleep and wakes up to find his money and the mysterious man gone. And Emil enlists the help of some kid detectives to help him get his money back.
It sounds interesting and is only 152 pages long so I should get through it in no time! :’)
Also in the day Jen and I met Carrie Fletcher!
(#HopefulGameFace)
Carrie is a really great youtuber and she’s currently Eponine in Les Miserables (MY FAVOURITE SHOW ;VHKVJDSD) She also really loves books!
Next month, Carrie’s doing a thing called “booktober” where you read a book a week as part of her birthday month, which I’ve decided I’m going to take part in so expect my TBR coming soon! You can choose any 4 books you want or you can read along with the books she’s going to read! 🙂
Then I came home and my whole family were round for my uncle’s 50th birthday. Fun times.
🙂
