The Perfect Finale.

Hiya folks!

I hope you all had a good new year.

I’ve been writing a lot recently. I’m in the midst of writing a short story that I am so excited about!

I was planning my ending when I thought to myself, “what makes the perfect ending?”

One of my all time favourite TV shows, Miranda, premiered it’s last episode on the BBC on New Year’s Day. If you haven’t seen the show you should, it’s bloody fantastic. The show is semi autobiographical written by the creator Miranda Hart. It’s hilarious, has a fantastic group of actors and writers and, especially in the last episode, a very empowering lead character.

It’s so refreshing that there is a show that exists that people my age can relate to. Miranda isn’t your average female protagonist. She’s awkward, clumsy and self conscious but she also has a good heart, which a lot of us can relate to. Somehow.

I’m going to try my best not to spoil the finale but, you guys. For me, at least, it was SO perfect.

SO MUCH DEVELOPMENT, A HAPPY ENDING AND THE MAJORITY OF THE AUDIENCE PLEASED. (At least that’s what I gathered from my Twitter timeline, of course there’s a spectrum of opinions, this applies to everything)

I’m just so happy when a character overcomes their obstacles and are, overall, HAPPY AT THE END.

When you spend your time rooting for a character, when you become very attached, you just have to hope the writer’s make the right decision.

This was a very long and rambly and potentially spoiler free post about Miranda!

One of my New Year’s resolutions this year is to write as much as I can, whenever I can.

And I hope I can write stories about characters that people can identify with and root for, like Miranda Hart has done for me!

🙂
