January and February Wrap Up!

Here are the books that I have read throughout January and February!

Say Her Name by James Dawson which I enjoyed and have reviewed here!

The Female Eunuch – Germaine Greer. It’s not pictured as I borrowed it from the library. It’s a very iconic feminist novel and I really enjoyed it!

Attachments – Rainbow Rowell
Not That Kind of Girl – Lena Dunham
The Gospel of Loki – Joanne Harris
Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn

(all of these books I talked about in a post HERE!)

Soulmates – Holly Bourne.
I absolutely LOVED this I will do a review that should be up next week!

You’re The One That I Want – Giovanna Fletcher.
I really didn’t like this. I couldn’t get passed the writing style and the really annoying characters. I ended up reading a review on goodreads that laid out what happened next and it was so bloody predictable. A shame really because I liked Giovanna’s first book Billy and Me and I really like her vlogs! Oh well.

Saga volumes 2 & 3 by Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples
Two brilliant sequels in the popular science fiction/fantasy graphic novel series! I preferred volume two to volume three as it was more intense. I shall not spoil as they are sequels but it is a fantastic graphic novel series about a family trying to survive!

Undone – Cat Clarke
Ooooohoohooo. I have such mixed feelings on this book. In this book we follow Jem as she deals with the suicide of her best friend, Kai. Because he committed suicide over a video that outed him, Jem blames the popular crowd and intends to bring them down. So I enjoyed the overall plot of it and I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if JEM WAS NOT THE WORST CHARACTER I’VE EVER READ. She was so bloody infuriating, I wanted to smack her in the face. I think it’s good she wanted to find out who was responsible for her best friend’s death but SHE DID A LOT OF THINGS WITHOUT THINKING and they were quite dangerous things too and urghhhhh she was frustrating.

The Art Of Being Normal – Lisa Williamson.
A beautiful young adult novel about a transgender teenager. It’s so important that there is more representation of the LGBT+ community in literature as a whole and this is really great. I’m going to do a full review of this book some time next week too!

The Bane Chronicles – Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson.
A collection of 11 short stories centering on Magnus Bane, a popular character from Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles books (The Mortal Instruments & The Infernal Devices series.) I enjoyed this. Some of the stories bored me because I felt like they weren’t needed but some of the stories I did enjoy, my favourite being The Midnight Heir as we revisited Tessa and Will from The Infernal Devices! I recommend if you’re a big fan of Cassandra Clare’s work!

Thank you for reading! 🙂
