In which I unintentionally do the #Cramathon…

Hey folks!

So I’ve been seeing TBR’s and other related videos to the Cramathon readathon on Youtube!

In case you missed it – it’s a 3 day readathon where you try and read as much as you can.

Here is the info video!

(obviously it has passed but I like Whitney’s channel anyhow :])

I’m not normally good at these type of readathons but I, in my opinion at least, CRUSHED IT.

Here are the things I read:

I started and finished the graphic novel Fun Home on the Friday starting the readthon for me with 232 pages. This is an autobiographical graphic novel by Alison Bechdel based on her family life and how she discovered her sexuality and her coming out as a lesbian. This has also been adapted into a Tony award winning musical that I am just dying to see! I really liked this but it had a non linear way of storytelling which I couldn’t get on board with. But I still enjoyed it!

I then read a play called The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh. This is a play set in a small part of Ireland called Inishmaan set in the 1930s where a famous Hollywood director comes onto the Ireland to make a film. Our main character Billy (who is the titular Cripple) really wants to be able to get off this island and make something of himself. I saw Daniel Radcliffe as Billy in this play a couple years ago and I thought he was great. The play is kinda ‘meh’ for me. All the good stuff happens off stage and the play felt too short and anticlimactic. The play was 80 pages long bringing my total page count to 312 pages.

Before the readathon started I had just started Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I managed to read 81 pages before stopping. I am liking it but I don’t think it’s an ideal book to rush during a readathon. I do plan on finishing it before the end of the month so look out for that in my wrap up. This brought my total page count to 393 pages.

Before the readathon finished I picked up The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell. I managed to read 158 pages bringing my total page count to 551 pages! I finished this book today and I shall do a review on it because I LOVED it.

If you did the readathon how well did you do? I know there were challenges you could do but I didn’t choose my reading material with them in mind.

Thanks for reading!
