Some of my favourite songs from musicals!

Hello all!

So I mostly post about books on here but another love of mine is theatre/musicals! Living in London, I have seen my fair share and I will continue to do so! (well as far as my bank account allows me)

(Should note I haven’t been sponsored! I genuinely love these shows!)

So today I thought I would list some of my favourite songs from some shows I’ve seen lately!

1) ‘One Day More’ from ‘Les Miserables.’

This is last year’s cast performing at the Oliviers 2014! Les Miserables is my ultimate favourite musical. It was the first one I saw on stage and fell in love with. I love how everything comes together in this act one finale. The vocals of hearing it live is undeniably electric. The last time I saw Les Miserables was on Broadway and I had tears in my eyes, safe to say!

2. ‘Brotherhood of Man’ from ‘How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.’

I absolutely ADORE this musical and this score and it was the theatrics and the talent in this performance ^ that made me fall in love with this song! I finally got to see a production of ‘How To Succeed’ in London at the Royal Festival Hall with Jonathan Groff as Finch. It was a concert version but they performed the show like a radio play so it wasn’t just the songs we got to hear. Jonathan announced at the start of the show that they were recording the show so hopefully that will be available asap!

3. ‘Underground’ from Memphis:The Musical

My favourite opening number from a show! I jam so hard to this when it comes on Spotify. I adored the show when I saw it the first time. I never saw Beverley Knight when I saw it the first time but I hope to see her when I go again! Her understudy was fantastic though. As was Olivier nominee Killian Donnelly! Unfortunately the show is only running in the West End until October – go see it! Fantastic music, storytelling and talent!

4. ‘Model Behavior’ from Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown: The Musical.

Newfound favourite of mine. I recently saw the show but unfortunately it was the day before the show was due to close! It’s a wonderful show about women! This was my favourite song from the show. I thought it was super clever and Marianne Benedict, who played Candela when I saw it, was incredible and so hilarious!

5. ‘All American Prophet’ from The Book of Mormon.

I first saw The Book Of Mormon when it came to the West End two years ago and I am just dying to see it again. Combine the humour of the creators of South Park, Matt Parker and Trey Stone, and the glorious songwriting of Robert Lopez (YEAH THE GUY WHO WROTE THE SOUNDTRACK TO FROZEN WITH HIS WIFE!) and you get one fantastic score. This is my favourite song from the show, it’s surprisingly educational about the history of Mormons!

The Book of Mormon is still on Broadway and still in London. Highly recommend this show if you’re looking for a laugh!
